The Oral Health Collaborative (OHC), a pioneering initiative, is set to transform oral health outcomes across diverse populations. This strategic imperative focuses on targeted awareness campaigns, collaborative initiatives, and enhanced access to care. In the face of the staggering prevalence of oral diseases in India, the Collaborative represents a pivotal step towards creating synergies and holistic solutions. Its establishment signifies a unified approach to tackling oral health issues comprehensively. The Collaborative aims to instigate impactful changes by integrating preventive care, raising awareness, and promoting inclusivity within India’s oral health landscape, ultimately contributing to the well-being of millions.
The Collaborative is coordinated in partnership with institutions and experts from the government, civil society organizations, private sector, and academic and technical organizations. Led by the National Task Force Committee, which includes experts from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Education, National Health Systems Resource Centre, Indian Council of Medical Research, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing, Health Parliament, and many more, the OHC fosters cross-sector collaboration to develop holistic solutions that impact both individual and community health. The OHC Secretariat is located at Tarutium’s Center for Sustainable Health, which coordinates the Collaborative’s activities under the guidance of the National Oral Health Task Force and its partners.
Recently, in a significant step towards transforming the oral health landscape in India, the Oral Health Collaborative hosted its inaugural National Task Force Consultation on Oral Health on December 2023 in New Delhi. This landmark event focused on three critical themes: Awareness, Access, and Empowerment.
Insights and recommendations from the consultation were compiled into a comprehensive white paper, which has since been disseminated nationwide. This white paper outlines comprehensive strategies, recommendations, and actionable steps to improve national oral health outcomes.
In addition, the OHC has launched the Oral Health Collaborative E-Community to promote the exchange of ideas and insights and to facilitate strong partnerships among experts, policymakers, practitioners, and others.
