Advancing Climate & Health Resilience through Multi-sector Collaboration
On 14 July 2026, Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth (MRV), in partnership with Tarutium Global Consulting, convened the SUTRA-CH Telangana Leadership Roundtable at the MRV Campus, Hyderabad. The Roundtable marked the formal launch of the SUTRA-CH Telangana Chapter, bringing together stakeholders from government, academia, industry, research institutions, startups, CSR organisations and development partners.
The initiative was established to strengthen climate and health resilience in Telangana by creating a platform for evidence generation, innovation, partnerships and implementation. The discussions focused on translating climate and health evidence into practical solutions and on building stronger pathways linking research, technology, policy, financing and action.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Government of Telangana, emphasised that climate-related impacts intersect with health, nutrition, livelihoods and access to essential services, making equity an important consideration in climate resilience planning.
The launch of SUTRA-CH Telangana represents an effort to build a collaborative ecosystem that connects government priorities, research, technology, innovation, financing, and policy. The platform is intended to bring together diverse stakeholders to identify priority climate-health challenges, generate evidence, develop innovative responses and accelerate implementation.
A major focus of the Roundtable was developing a Climate & Health Intelligence Platform that brings together environmental, geospatial, and health information to support evidence-informed decision-making. The prototype demonstrated ward-level mapping of climate vulnerabilities, analysis of heat exposure, flooding, vegetation and air quality, location-specific intervention recommendations, indicative cost estimation and automated reporting. Participants identified integrating health data with climate and environmental information as a critical next step.
The Roundtable concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen multi-sector collaboration and translate discussions into actionable programmes for Telangana.
Way Forward
The Hyderabad launch established SUTRA-CH Telangana as a platform for sustained collaboration on climate and health, with the Heat & Health Innovation Challenge serving as an important mechanism to connect emerging ideas and innovations with real-world climate-health needs.
The next phase will focus on translating the priorities identified during the Roundtable into evidence, pilots, partnerships, and scalable solutions, strengthening Telangana's capacity to anticipate and respond to climate-related health risks and building a more resilient, health-centred approach to climate action.
